Mom's visit

On Tuesday mom came back to Fort Myers with us for a mini vacation. On Wednesday we went kayaking in Ding Darling were we caught a couple of fish and saw several manatees. One of the manatees came up right in between mom and my kayak and nearly scared us to death. Pete paddled right over the top of another one and was able to pet it before it almost tipped him off of his kayak. On the way back from Ding Darling we stopped at Turner beach on Captiva to do a little swimming.

Thank goodness for this umbrella or I never would have been able to take the heat.
Thursday we spent the day cleaning out the baby's closet. Although this does not sound like a whole day affair, some how it did end up taking a good majority of the day. However, the closet is now clean and organized and ready for little baby things. Thursday night we drove down to Naples for dinner at the Cheesecake Factory and to watch a production of Annie. We went to the Player's Club on 5th and enjoyed an outstanding performance. Pete said when he went to the restroom during the intermission all of the men were either humming or singing the songs from the play.

Pete was such a good sport, and we all really loved the musical.
Friday morning we finished up the closet and then took mom over to the the Six Mile Cypress boardwalk. It was a beautiful day, we saw an armadillo swimming and a bobcat. We met dad after lunch so that he and Pete could go back to the house while mom and I went to Elizabeth to get mom's hair cut. After the hair cut we had a wine tasting on our back porch and then went to Pizza Fusion for dinner. We finished the night watching Stranger than Fiction.
At the slough, my belly looks very strange in this picture and I don't know what is up with my leg.

There are fun quotes all along the boardwalk.

Saturday morning we went to the ECHO research center for a tour. The facility was incredible with an amazing amount of plants and animals. The tour was a little long and hot so we were all grateful for the shady areas.

After the tour we went to Famous Dave's for some delicious BBQ and then back to our house for a nap(dad) and to relax before mom and dad headed back to Homestead. It was so nice to spend some time with mom and I am very grateful that she took the time to come.
